Pepper - Afternoon Kim, Su [1], Kim, Goon-Bo [1], Kim, Rae-Yu [1], Hwang, Ju-Kwang [2], Kim, Shinje [1]. A SCAR marker for TMV resistance L4. A co-dominant SCAR marker for TMV resistance - L4 in pepper (Capsicum) was developed. L4 originated from C. chacoense (PI260429) is known to provide a most effective and stable resistance against TMV infection. Two TMV resistance segregating populations with different genetic backgrounds were used to find RAPD markers linked to TMV resistance by BSA method. A 333bp RAPD marker was identified and this marker was converted to a co-dominant SCAR marker. A total of 229 plants of 2 populations (112 plants and 117 plants) showed only 1 recombination. This marker was used as a MAS tool for TMV-resistant pepper breeding with a collaboration of 3 major seed companies in Korea. In the year of 2005, a total of 1,687 samples were tested for TMV-L4. We will disclose this marker to anyone who wants to use this marker for MAS. Log in to add this item to your schedule
