Efficacy of Preemergence Herbicides on Cutleaf (Solanum triflorum and Hairy Nightshade (Solanum sarrachoides)..

HAIRY nightshade (Solanum sarrachoides)is a problem weed in Pacific Northwest (PNW) potato production areas and cutleaf nightshade (Solanum triflorum) is becoming a problem in some potato fields. Greenhouse and field trials were conducted to determine the efficacy of dimethenamid-p, flumioxazin, and sulfentrazone alone and in combination with other potato herbicides applied preemergence on these two nightshade weeds. All treatments controlled hairy nightshade effectively while cutleaf nightshade control was not as good.
