Monday Afternoon Morphology and Taxonomy

Tsiantis, Miltos [1].

Towards understanding the genetic basis for dissected leaf development.

TOMATO plants show dissected leaf morphology unlike other model genetic systems such as snapdragon, Arabidopsis and maize which bear simple leaves. The genetic basis for development of dissected versus simple leaf form is poorly understood. This presentation will discuss progress in understanding this problem and recent work aimed at characterising factors controlling dissected leaf form in tomato.
