Apertual Types of Pollen Grains in the Subfamily Cestroideae Schltdl. (Solanaceae Juss.).

POLLEN analysis of the subfamily Cestroideae (according Hunziker, 2001), carried out by us, in combination with available literary data, has revealed the domination of the colp-porate (poroidate), mainly long-colp-porate (poroidate) apertural type at the majority of the investigated genera. Below we list the characteristic of pollen aperture types within the limits of separate tribes of the subfamily Cestroideae. Tribe Cestreae G. Don. Cestrum L., Vestia Willd. – 3(4)-colp-orate, sometimes 3(4)-colp-poroid-orate; Sessea Ruiz. et Pav. - 3(4)-colp-pore-orate or 3-colpate with short colpi. Tribe Metternichieae Miers. Metternicha Mik. 3(4)- colp-poroidate. Tribe Latueae Hunz. et Barboza. Latua Phil. - colp-poroidate (porate). Tribe Nicotianeae G. Don. Subtribe Nicotianinae. Nicotiana L., Petunia Juss. – 3-colp-porate, 4-6-heteroaperturate; Fabiana Ruiz. et Pav. – 3-4-colp-porate. Subtribe Nierembergiinae. Nierembergia Ruiz. et Pav. – 3-colp-porate, sometimes pollen grains in tetrads or masssulae; Bouchetia Dunal - pollen grains in tetrads. Subtribe Leptoglossinae. Leptoglissis Benth., Hunzikeria D’Arcy – 3-colp-porate. Tribe Benthamielleae (Hunz.) Hunz. Benthamiella Speg.– 3-colp-poroidate, Pantacantha Speg. - 3- colp-porate. Tribe Francisceae G. Don. Brunfelsia L. - 3-colp-poroidate(porate), sometimes 3-porate. Tribe Browallieae Hunz. Browallia L. – 4-6-colpate colpi short or 4-7-colp-poroidate(porate), colpi short; Streptosolen Miers – 7- colpate, colpi short or 7-8 – colp-porate, colpi short. Tribe Schwenckieae Hunz. Schwenckia L., Melananthus Walp., Protoschwenckia Soler. – 3-colp-orate.
